Jimmy Wilde was born in March, 2006. There is no direct link to the world flyweight champion of the early Twenties who bore the same name and whose sobriquets include The Mighty Atom and The Ghost With A Hammer In His Hand.
Rather, I believe my grandfather used this pseudonym in his own, less renowned, career as a booth boxer. I never met my grandfather but I liked the name he chose and so, just like magic, here I am.
I'm not quite 40. Some kind people would say I'm nowhere near it. Still, I can see it in the distance, waiting for me. 40 is a big bastard with a baseball bat who stands at the end of a narrow alley, patiently awaiting my arrival. I would like to appease 40 by having something worthwhile to palm him off with.
When I was approaching 30, I put a lot of time and effort into writing fiction. For a multitude of reasons, the well ran dry. This website, which will publish the novel I wrote in those productive days, as well as a catalogue of short stories, was borne of the frustration of my recent inactivity. The aim is that it provides me with the impetus to start scribbling again.
I was going to do a blog but I wanted to combine it with my latest interest, photography. I have added a shopping basket facility to the site which will enable you to buy studio quality, signed mounted prints.
I aim to publish one chapter of the novel every week or two. It will be supplemented by short stories, posted on an ad hoc basis. If you would like to know when the next chapter goes up, please send your details to me at info@jimmywilde.co.uk and I will add you to the mailing list.
The novel is a bit of a dark comedy, I guess. To follow its progress, just log in on a regular basis and get the whole thing completely free of charge.
Jimmy Wilde, born this year at the ripe old age of 36¾, thanks you for looking in. The door is always open. Pull up a chair, help yourself to a drink and come back at any time.
All the best!
